1943 Joseph Witterwulghe bronze & marble deskweight

This is a great desk weight that was issued by Kamps Papiers in 1943 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The circular base is in marble and the top is a bronze plaque which depicts a man in profile looking at an angel that he holds in his hand. The plaque is signed "Witterwulghe". "1893 Kamps-Papiers 1943" is engraved round the edge of the rim.

Joseph Witterwulghe
1883 - 1967
Belgian sculptor, medal designer and painter.
He studied at the Academy of Arts in Bruxelles and taught at the Institute of Arts and Crafts in Bruxelles.
